The Tiger's Nest : Bhutan's Iconic Temple

Tiger's Nest, Bhutan's Iconic Temple Tactsang Lahakhang is one of the most interesting temples and religious sites in Bhutan. This iconic temple amazes the tourists who come to Bhutan. Tactsang translates the name Lahakhang as 'The Tiger's Nest'. This temple in Bhutan is considered one of the holiest places. It is located 700 meters above the Paro Valley. Tactsang Lahakhang or The Tiger's Nest was first created in 1962. There is a cave here where Guru Rimpoche worshiped in the seventh century. According to legend, Guru Rimpoche came here on the back of a tiger to worship. It is said that an ex-wife of the said king was transformed from a human to a tigress and that transformed tigress brought Guru from Tibet with her.
