E-Passport We have been hearing about e-passport for some time now. This is because e-passport was supposed to be launched last year, i.e. in July 2019. But due to some problems that date was postponed. Finally, on 22 January 2020, Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially announced the inauguration of the e-Passport program as one of the new additions to the year 2020. From now on any Bangladeshi adult citizen can apply for e-passport subject to fulfillment of all conditions. Note that Bangladesh entered the era of e-passport as the first country in South Asia and the 120th country in the world. The technology was first introduced in Malaysia in 1998.
